All staff members hold an enhanced DBS certificate and is checked on a regular basis.

Room leaders liaise frequently with Abbie (nursery manager) and appraisals occur regularly.

 

Manager, Deputy Manager, Room leaders, Nursery Nurses, are qualified with a certificate in first aid and either a National Nursery Examination Board Certificate (NNEB), B-Tec National diploma, NVQ Level 3 in childcare, Early Years Educator (EYE) or DCE Level 3 in Childcare and Education, They will usually have received two years professional training with practical experience in nursery, primary school, the home, day nursery, hospital or special care centres.

 

The nursery assistants are also dedicated and are sensitive to the needs of the individual children, assistants have a range of experience, some possessing other qualification, most are in training for the level 2 diploma or the level 3 diploma (EYE).

 

Staff are encouraged to participate in courses to further their professional development on a regular basis.

 

We require all staff to attend Emergency Paediatric First Aid Training, safeguard Training and Food Hygiene.

 

We operate a key person system, a key person has special responsibilities for working with a small number of children, giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for, and to build relationships with their parents.

 

The nursery is staffed according to the number of children present. The ratio of staff to children is as follows:-

 

1:3 for babies 3 month to 2 years

1:4 for toddlers 2 years to 3 years

1:8 for pre-school 3 years to 5 years

1:13 for holiday club 5 years to 11 years​​​​​​
